Final Project - Art 3090 - Downtown HDR
I selected this exposure because I found the worn sign interesting, as well as the tiered construction on the building in the center. In this image I hid the dumpster behind an extended gate, and saturated the color of the sign and the building on the right.
This HDR composite of the Tower Theatre in the 9th & 9th district was my most fully edited photo. This exposure views the theatre looking east, while the sunset I added to the sky was from the west. I replaced the sky completely because I was not happy with the degree of halo around the edged of the building. Removing the tree limbs from the top of the structure left a few artifacts, as well as a phantom telephone pole I was not able to get rid of on the left of the image near the Starbucks.
I selected this image is a strong example of HDR because taking interior shots exposed for color usually overexposes the outside. The settings I used in Photomatix left me with some color burn in the sky I lessened, but I think the grunge of the building worked well with the surrealistic nature.
My favorite HDR of the assignment. Normally I shy away from using tone mapping at this strength, but I really like the old truck and brick color. The sky showed quite a bit of haloing (sp?) but I tried to even it out a bit. (2013 Update - This house was bulldozed and an modern cube-like house was built in its place)
